Restored as the Niagara Apothecary by the Ontario College of Pharmacy with help from the provincial and federal government the pharmacy was known for years as Field's Drug Store. Mr. E.W. Field, a descendant of an old Loyalist family passed away in 1965.

The Niagara Apothecary was an apothecary in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, established no later than 1820, and is now a National Historic Site of Canada. It was operated by a series of successive owners, most of whom had apprenticed under the preceding owner. In the 1960s, it was purchased by the Niagara Foundation, which targeted the building.

Henry Paffard was Lord Mayor of Niagara-on-the-Lake for 26 years. He served three terms in office: 1863-1874, 1875-1880 and 1888-1896 — terms that came with a great many difficulties.. The Niagara Apothecary had a wonderful public archeological dig this past summer of 2017, sponsored by the Ontario Heritage Trust. The dig lasted five weeks.

The Niagara Apothecary opened as a museum in 1971. Before the Apothecary was on Queen Street, Rodman Starkwather established a pharmacy on Prideaux Street in 1820. A newspaper advertisement describes the store location as "The Niagara Apothecary at the Sign of the Golden Mortar opposite Smith's Tavern." Starkwather sold the practice to James.

The Niagara Apothecary is an authentic museum restoration of a 1869 pharmacy as part of a practice that operated in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, from 1820 to 1964. After being closed to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Niagara Apothecary plans to resume seasonal activities as of May 30, 2022.

The Niagara Apothecary is an authentic museum restoration of a 1869 pharmacy as part of a practice that operated in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, from 1820 to 1964. Operating hours are noon to 6 p.m. daily, starting on May 14 until the Labour Day long weekend (September 4). Following September 4, the Niagara Apothecary will only be open.

Apple Hill Apothecary officially opened their doors on Saturday, May 27. The new business is owned by sisters Melissa and Jennifer Schooley. Melissa said the business is a "a medicinal herb farm and apothecary.". She said the apothecary sells natural health products, natural skin care products and culinary products.
