De Hoofdtoren te Hoorn
Der Hoofdtoren ist eine spätgotische Struktur, die auf der Seeseite aus weißgelbem Naturstein und Ziegel auf der Stadtseite errichtet wurde. Tatsächlich ist der Hoofdtoren eine vergrößerte Ansicht der Türme, die die Nordseite von Hoorn schützten. Das sieht man noch an den Mariatoren, dem einzigen noch erhaltenen Turm der nördlichen Stadtmauer.

De Hoofdtoren gezien vanaf de zeezijde met gedeeltelijk het Houten Hoofd. "Kosten werden niet gespaard en het is een fraai bouwwerk geworden, dat de haven bij het binnengaan een mooie aanblik biedt", zoals Hoorns 16e-17e eeuwse geschiedschrijver Theodorus Velius dat in zijn kronieken vermeldt.
